When you think of Massachusetts architecture, what comes to mind? Perhaps an old colonial home in Salem, or a cedar-shake shingle home on the Cape. Maybe you’re imagining a Victorian style 3-story building in Boston.

Venturing into the backwoods of Essex county, you’ll find plenty of colonial homes, as well as old-fashioned farmhouses. Cormier Custom Homes welcomes the opportunity of creating a beautiful custom farmhouse addition for the client, using traditional architectural techniques while incorporating a mix of modern influences. This addition will be added onto the main home, which will consist of many features including a Great room with expansive ceilings, exposed beams, and a stone-faced fireplace providing a focal point. Additionally, an open concept kitchen and dining room will compliment the Great room. Moreover, an attached three car garage with oversized doors, a finished loft, and metal roof porches encompass the perimeter of the addition and overlook the farmer family’s crop field.

Starting back in August, this project has been through many stages of construction so far. The land had been surveyed, excavated, the foundation filled in, and now it is currently in the framing process. This step can take time, as the team goes through revisions with the client to ensure the best product is outputted to satisfy the client’s dream.

Eventually, the team will move onto the insulation and plumbing process of the build. A lot of work has been done thus far, thanks to the team and colleagues, but a lot of labor still awaits ahead! Join us on our journey as we make this countryside farmhouse dream into a reality.
