Frequently Asked Questions
I want to build a new home. What are the next steps?
Before embarking on your next big project, you have a few things to consider:
- Your budget
- Choosing a lot
- Picking a house layout
Once you know your budget and where you want to build, you can work with Cormier Custom Homes to hammer out the other details. We can also help you select a lot, design your home, and build out your team with our architects or engineers, interior designers, and other professionals. We can also help you obtain building permits and finalize your project plan. Start by booking a consultation to get a sense of our building process and how we manage the job. That way, they’ll know what to expect at every stage of the project.
How long does it take to build a new home?
Building a new home can take anywhere from 12 months to 18 months. It varies on the size of the job, what's involved, and planning and permit obtainment that needs to get done.
Should I build a new home or renovate my current home?
That will depend on your needs, wants, and budget. Sometimes, a remodeled kitchen and a new home addition to make your house feel like a dream home may suffice. Alternatively, you may have loftier aspirations (and a loftier budget) that necessitate a home built from the ground up.
Should I buy land before or after I speak with my home builder?
We always recommend buying land after you speak with us to ensure it’s ready for development. But if you’ve already purchased land, don’t worry: our team can certainly help you develop it.
What do I need to know about my architecture blueprints?
Your architectural blueprints are what will get you a detailed, accurate estimate for the construction of your new home. At Cormier Custom Homes, we provide thorough blueprint consultations, along with our architects, so you know how to read them and understand the design of your home.
